DRONE TRAINING LIVERPOOL
Although our courses are run online, we still get together for the all important Flight Skills Test or for a day of Flight Skills Training at one of our drone training facilities in Liverpool.
This Liverpool drone training course takes place every evening during the course period for a couple of hours each night until the content has been covered. You will meet virtually with your groundschool instructor and learn from the comfort of your home. Once you have completed the groundschool theory and passed the theory test we will spend a few days working through the Operations Manual construction before inviting you to your nearest flight examination centre to complete the final stage, the Flight Skills Test (FST). When you book you will be asked to select your nearest location so that your local instructor can be allocated to you.
This process allows us to complete your training safely and social distancing is observed at every stage.
I have just completed the weekender course and it was excellent. As a current serving Military Helicopter Pilot I can categorically say that this course sets up potential pilots with everything they need to know for their future careers. Giving them the knowledge and skills to operate safely. The courseware is fantastic, with very good training. Nick our instructor was excellent. The ongoing support for the Ops Manual is excellent and you pay for Flyby Technology and their expertise for the future. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Our flight skills training days make maximum use of available light, so run from 8.30 am until twilight. We provide lunch and refreshments.
Your Flight Skills Test (FST) takes place in open countryside, so you may have to travel to your nearest examiner. We aim to have an instructor and location within reasonable distance to you, but Instructors of our experience are few and far between so you travel may need to travel up to 90 minutes to them, it’s only for one day and a nice day out!
One to ones at a location to suit you are available at an extra cost.
You can meet your local instructor below, but our team are busy people so they do sometimes cover courses for each other, so this may not be the instructor for your course. Rest assured all our instructors are of an excellent calibre and you can read all about them on our home page.

Meet the Flyby Instructors
Buster Crab
Instructor
Having joined the Royal Air Force in 1980 as an Engineering Officer (sponsored University Cadet), Buster saw the light and re-mustered to pilot in 1982. Following tours on the Tornado GR1 and instructing and examining on the Tucano and Hawk, he completed his commission as a Squadron Commander at the Tri-National Tornado Establishment, RAF Cottesmore.
Buster then joined the airline industry and has been qualified on Airbus A320 and A321; and Boeing 737, 757,767 and, most recently, 787 Dreamliner. He spent a decade as Fleet Manager for the A320/1 and, latterly, for the B757, responsible for all aspects of operations, procedures and safety.
After a balanced 19 years of military flying and 19 years of commercial aviation, amassing almost 13000 hours, Buster has retired from manned aviation and is relishing the opportunities in the cutting edge world of drones.
Meet the Flyby Instructors
Adrian Smith
Instructor
Adrian joined the RAF in 1986, and after training flew Chinook helicopters before becoming a Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI) on the Gazelle. He later spent three years as a QHI in the German Air Force, flying the Bell UH1 “Huey” before returning to the Chinook to instruct new pilots converting to type.
Operational experience includes the first Gulf War, Northern Ireland, Iraq, Bosnia and Kosovo. He left the RAF in 2003 as the Commanding Officer of the Chinook training unit.
Upon leaving the RAF, Adrian converted to fixed-wing flying, and has been involved with training since 2005, initially as a Theoretical Knowledge Instructor and then a Line-Training Captain. He has flown Boeing 737, 757, 767 and 787, with a total flying experience of around 13,500 hours.
He is married, with two adult children, and enjoys hill-walking with his border collie, skiing and car mechanics.
