BVLOS - The Future is Here and it's Out of Sight!

Everybody is going to be affected by Beyond Visual Line of Sight, and that's the exciting bit. Everybody's got something to contribute, at the moment Flyby's contribution is huge, but at some point somebody will overtake us and quite rightly. We'll hand over the baton and they'll race on and take the UK Drone Industry further than we can.

At the moment we're holding the baton, and we're loving that experience. We're working with Manned Aviation and we're looking at being able to take airline pilots that are perhaps not employed at the moment - maybe they've lost their jobs or have a medical issue - there's nothing precluding those highly skilled individuals from taking part in BVLOS. But also anybody with a Mavic has got something to contribute. We have the ideas for today but we haven't necessarily got the ideas for tomorrow, and anybody will be able to contribute, that's the beauty of a new industry.

Flyby want to be able to work with those people, and evolve those early adopters, those that are excited to improve themselves and improve their operation and to be safe and to contribute, because that's what we're about. We love that sort of person and that's who we like to work with.

It could be anybody. BVLOS is going to open so many doors.

One of the problems that BVLOS has had the moment is that it's regulatorily difficult. The CAA is working with everybody to try and be permissive, they want this to happen more than we do. Quality is going to be the difference. If the regulator believes we have quality within our operation and we're selecting and training the right people, then they're going to relax and the permissions will come.

Currently, because of the pandemic, we're being given some very liberal acceptances. We're able to operate in segregated airspace - that means a temporary danger area - so we can carry out our operations in support of the NHS.

Those sorts of regulatory approvals are coming thick and fast, but we need to inlcude early adopters like you. We need people who are looking for good training now, because you are the sort of people who will be an asset to the future of the drone industry.

The UK is going to be leading in this arena and we need the right people.
